A Typical Day...

Every day at our centre brings new experiences, happy faces, and plenty of wagging tails. From the moment the doors open, our dogs enjoy a full and varied routine designed to stimulate both mind and body. Throughout the day, they take part in safe, supervised social play, treat puzzles, obstacle courses, toy time, and impulse-control games. Most importantly, every activity is supported by lots of encouragement — and of course, an endless supply of cuddles and kisses.

In addition, our secure outdoor areas give dogs the space to run freely, play with friends, and burn off energy. Afterwards, they wind down for a well-earned afternoon nap. Some dogs choose to curl up in our purpose-built box beds, while others prefer our cosy cuddle corner, where they can rest close to staff or other dogs for extra comfort.

As a volunteer or placement student, you’ll see how structure, play, and rest all come together to create a calm, balanced environment. You may also help with setting up enrichment activities, observing social interactions, or supporting staff during quieter rest periods. These opportunities will help you develop a practical understanding of canine body language, group dynamics, and behaviour management in a professional setting.

Meanwhile, our media team often captures moments from the day to share on our social media pages — Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok — giving owners a glimpse of their dog’s adventures and helping you see how positive communication builds trust between team and clients.

Finally, it’s worth noting that our team lives and breathes dog care. Many members have been with us since the very beginning, while others started as volunteers themselves before joining the team permanently. Every staff member holds a canine first aid qualification, and together we share a genuine love for creating the best possible day for every dog in our care.

In our care, your dog will spend their day socialising with friends in our specially designed centre.

They will be encouraged to participate in group activities within our fully enclosed heated indoor area, where our facilities include, dog agility equipment, numerous engagement activities, ball pit and not forgetting our snuggle and sleeping areas.

Outdoors, we offer a secure all weather area featuring agility equipment and a space to run and play with friends. We also take full advantage of the fantastic countryside we have right on our doorstep.

Little Legs Club

Socialisation plays a vital role in every puppy’s development, and at The Doggy Day Care Centre, we take this stage seriously. That’s why our purpose-built Little Legs Club offers a safe, nurturing space designed especially for small breeds, young puppies, and dogs with a quieter or more nervous temperament.

Inside the club, volunteers will find a range of enriching environments. For example, there are cosy snuggle areas for rest, playful ball pits for interaction, and a large, secure all-weather outdoor space complete with agility equipment. These spaces allow dogs to build confidence gradually while still having fun.

Moreover, early socialisation helps puppies grow into calm, well-balanced dogs who enjoy the company of others. Because their needs differ from adult dogs, our team carefully adapts each activity to support their confidence, comfort, and curiosity. As a volunteer or placement student, you’ll have the opportunity to observe and assist with these sessions, gaining valuable hands-on experience in canine behaviour and social development.

Finally, puppies can join the Little Legs Club from 12 weeks old, as long as it’s been two weeks since completing their vaccination course. This ensures that all play and learning happen in a safe and healthy environment.

Pet Taxi

Our fully insured Pet Taxi operates five days a week, providing safe and reliable transport for dogs travelling to and from our centres. Each vehicle is fitted with cosy beds, secure crates, and full air conditioning so that every journey remains calm and comfortable.

Before each trip, drivers record detailed notes about every dog’s travel preferences. For instance, some dogs like a treat on arrival, while others relax best with their favourite toy. Because of this careful attention, each journey feels familiar and stress-free.

As a volunteer or placement student, you may occasionally assist during taxi arrivals and departures. For example, you might help settle dogs into the building, escort them to their play areas, or record their arrival times. Through these moments, you can observe canine body language, social introductions, and travel routines — experiences that will deepen your understanding of everyday operations within a professional dog care setting.
